About Me

Welcome to my blog page and thanks for visiting! If you would like to stay updated on new blog posts, please subscribe to my blog. I hope my page encourages you!

My name is Matthew Weaver and I am a Christ Follower, Husband, Dad & Pastor. I’m originally from Georgia, spent some time in South Carolina and have now been in Southeast Louisiana since 2014. My family is in Georgia and Alabama and I married into a Louisiana family when I married my wife Emily in April of 2017. We live in Harahan, LA with our son Camden!

After graduating high school in Fayetteville, GA, I went to Shorter College in Rome, GA for two years and then transferred to Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, GA to pursue a degree in Rhetoric. During my time at GC&SU, I began to help lead the BCM on campus, volunteered in a youth ministry and worked as a camp counselor in the summers with FUGE camps. It was during my college years that I surrendered to ministry. After college, God opened a door for me to serve in a College & Young Adult Ministry at FBC Spartanburg, SC.

Two years later, I moved to New Orleans, LA to pursue my Masters of Divinity degree at NOBTS. I graduated seminary in December of 2016, got married in April of 2017 and was ordained as a pastor in December of 2017.

Since then, I have served in various roles at Vintage Church NOLA and now serve as the Ministries Pastor. I also serve as one of the Camp Pastors for MissionLab at NOBTS, where I get to encourage youth groups that come to serve in NOLA and preach at worship services on campus. In addition to MissionLab and being on the preaching team at Vintage Church, I also enjoy getting to travel and preach at other churches and ministries (check out this page to see more). In addition to blogs, I have also written curriculum for a student summer camp, devotionals for the Lifeway men’s Stand Firm magazine, and a small devotional book called Refocus that you can get on Amazon! I’m passionate about the local church, connecting with people, preaching and writing.

Personal things that fill me up are spending time with the people I love, drinking good coffee on my front porch, checking out new coffee shops, reading, traveling, exploring the outdoors, fishing and playing golf!
