My name is Matthew Weaver and I am a Christ follower, husband & pastor. I’m originally from Georgia, spent some time in South Carolina and have now been in Louisiana since 2014. My family is in Georgia and Alabama and I married into a Louisiana family when I married my wife Emily in April of 2017! We live in Metairie, LA and with our son Camden!
After graduating high school in Fayetteville, GA, I went to Shorter College in Rome, GA for two years and then transferred to Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, GA to pursue a Communications degree. I surrendered to ministry during my early years of college. During my time at GC&SU, I began to help lead the BCM on campus, volunteered in a youth ministry and worked as a camp counselor in the summers with FUGE camps. After college, God opened a door for me to serve in a College & Young Adult Ministry at FBC Spartanburg, SC.
Two years later, I moved to New Orleans, LA to pursue my Masters of Divinity degree at NOBTS. I graduated seminary in December of 2016, got married in April of 2017 and was ordained as a pastor in December of 2017.
Since then, I have served in various roles at Vintage Church NOLA and now serve as the Ministries Pastor. I also serve as one of the Camp Pastors for MissionLab at NOBTS, where I get to encourage youth groups that come to serve in NOLA and preach at worship services on campus. In addition to MissionLab and being on the preaching team at Vintage Church, I also enjoy getting to travel and speak at other churches and ministries. I’ve had the opportunity to preach at various churches and youth/college ministry events, mostly in the South East (check out this page to see more). I’m passionate about the local church, preaching God’s Word, networking and encouraging others and reaching people for Jesus.
I’m a pretty simple guy! I enjoy being with my wife, family and friends, drinking good coffee, blogging, exploring the outdoors, fishing, traveling and being on the golf course.
