My name is Matthew Weaver and I’m originally from Georgia, spent some time in South Carolina and have now been in Southeast Louisiana since 2014. I have been married to my wife Emily since April of 2017, and we live in Harahan, LA with our son Camden.
After graduating high school in Fayetteville, GA, I went to Shorter College for two years and then transferred to Georgia College and State University to pursue a Rhetoric degree. During my time there, I began to serve in a local youth and college ministry, where God led me into vocational ministry. After graduating college, I then served in a College & Young Adult Ministry at FBC Spartanburg, SC.
Two years later, I moved to New Orleans, LA to pursue my Masters of Divinity degree at NOBTS. I graduated seminary in December of 2016, got married to Emily in April of 2017 and was ordained as a pastor in December of 2017.
I then served on the pastoral team at Vintage Church for eight years in various roles, and still serve there on the lay preaching team. Now, I work at John Curtis Christian School teaching and helping lead spiritual life on campus. I am also an Adjunct Professor at Leavell College and enjoy writing and preaching for other churches and ministries.
Above all these things, I enjoy spending time with my wife, son and other family and friends. My hobbies include drinking good coffee, reading and writing, playing golf, and anything outdoors – especially fishing!
